How to get to Lofoten Islands?

There’s several ways to reach Lofoten islands.
By Airplane, there’s airport in Svolvær (Helle) flights from
Oslo/ Bodø. Leknes Airport flights from Oslo/ Bodø. Evenes Narvik / Harstad airport flights from Oslo/ Bergen/ Trondheim/ Tromsø. International Gdansk Poland.
Train to Bodø then you need to go from Bodø to Lofoten Islands by boat or plane.
Hurtigruten travels the whole coastal line of Norway and on Lofoten it docks in Svolvær and Stamsund.

Is it possible to pick up the van in other places?

No, we do not deliver the campers, its only Pick-up and Drop-of in Henningsvær.

Drivers license and minimum age for renting?

You’ll need an International driving license with a picture of you and the minimum age is 25 years to rent a Volkswagen Camper from us.

What’s the minimum rental period?

Our minimum rental period is 3 days.

Cancelation and refund?

Cancelation policy is full refund minus the transactions fees aprox 3% when cancelation more then 7 days before start of the rental.

Where can we park and camp?

In Lofoten you’re’ able to park and camp at most places as long there aren’t signs that says it’s not allowed to park and camp. There’s a rule that you’re not allowed to camp closer than 150 meters from a privat property. And if you are not up to free camping there is camping sites spred around Lofoten Islands. You’ll find camping sites all over Lofoten Islands and there you have service like toilets and showers. Most sites have electricity to hook up to the Camper van. There’s a great app both for Android and Iphone called park4night where you can find places to park and camp.

Shower and toilet?

We have a small outdoors shower in each Camper van but no toilet. But you can find both toilets and shower at the camping sites, gas stations as well as public bathrooms. Toilets are also available at cafées and tourist information.

Linen, duvet how about these things?

Yes, All you need for bedding linen, duvet, pillows, and blankets is In the Camper.

Is there heating in the Volkswagen Camper?

Yes, the camper is equipped with a diesel powered parking heater for winter times and chilly summer nights.

Food and water?

Stores are available in most places in Lofoten Islands and you’ll find most of them in Svolvær and Leknes. The California Camper van has a built in water tank of 20Liters and we also provide an extra 5-10Liter tank, mostly
for drinking. The tap water in Lofoten Islands is excellent and you’re able to refill the Camper van at gas stations and camping sites.

Does the VW Camper van come with winter studd tires? Or we will need to use snow chain?

The Camper is a 4 wheel drive and equipped with studd tires so you have a good car to drive, even in bad conditions.

Is it very difficult to drive in Lofoten during winter? I hear that some says the roads in Lofoten are very narrow & slippery during that time.

In the winter the most roads are covered with snow and ice, so drive careful. The roads are relative narrow but they are the same width all year around, that’s why its nice to have a VW camper because of it’s quite small in dimensions comparing to an RV.

Are all campsites open in the winter time?

Most of the camping sites are open but not all. Some of them are only open in the summer.

Are the groceries shop open in Lofoten during winter?

Yes, all groceries shops are open all year around. Some restaurants and cafées are closed or just open in weekends.
